I thought it was a good episode, with a lot of good one-liners.

Indeed. I liked the serious scene with Dorian and Barbie, where at the end, JD says, "Did you know I'm No. 1?" And Elliot says, "Yeah, I got the e-mails." I thought that was a great segue out of the drama.

That's one of the things why this show is so good. They seem to go so easily from serious moments to funny moments and vice versa without much of a hiccup.

am I the only one thinking that Thursday's episode was intended to appear before the one where Kelso loses his gig? I mean, no mention at all of his imminent unemployment? Just a (funny) subplot involving him and muffins?

That. BTW, is a nice nod to the show's loyal fans...I remember an early episode in which Kelso made a big deal out of picking his muffin of the day.

Also, any time I see JD and Turk playing daddy I think this show is hurtling the shark. Please, Bill Lawrence: Less daddy time, more funny time. Especially from JD. I can deal with Turk playing daddy, because he's an adult.

I also thought that episode was "out of order." I don't remember if Lady, Janitor's woman, was in Kelso's birthday episode; I don't think she was. I'm betting it was scheduled to air on Thanksgiving, but when the network decided not to air anything new during the holiday, it was skipped instead of the entire season being bumped a day.

You're both right. The episode prior to Thanksgiving showed the Janitor trying to prove to JD that he had a lady. I would think that last week's episode should have aired during Thanksgiving, but as per usual NBC screwed over its best program.

I'm still afraid the show won't be able to end on its own terms.

Bill Lawrence seems adament that he'll do whatever he needs to (even if it means direct to DVD episodes) to ensure that the show ends the way he wants it to.

That's a fucking relief, especially to those fans who watch this show at every possible opportunity. Oh, yeah, and the actors, too.
