I hate that this has devolved into another political thread, but I would like to point out that the amount of "vacation" Obama has taken pales in comparison to his predecessor. Obama could take part or all of every single day off for the next 8 months, straight, and not have as many days away from the White House as GWB.

This is a president who reportedly doesn't even hold regular cabinet meetings.
    He has checked out.
Can you tell me what it is he actually does?
i have nothing more to say on the matter.

It wouldn't have been a war zone if his predecessor hadn't made it a war zone.

WRT police escalating the situation with how they were dressed and their equipment, I worked some behind the scene logistics when the G8 was held in my city.

There were cops in shorts on mountain bikes beside the crowd and lots of cops in regular uniform mingling as well.

All the police in hard gear were staged out of sight ready to respond if things got hairy.

This was in Canada where there is not the same access to weapons that the US has but it seemed like a pretty effective way to do things.

U.S. Rep. William Lacy Clay has decided that the shooting was a "murder."

    That'll calm things down.
