When did Gen. Honore become CNN's hurricane color commentator?

I know he led the military's relief effort after Katrina, but now he's talking about storm surges like he's a meteorologist.

It looks like KHOU is on Seawall Blvd. in front of the Hotel Galvez.

For those of you who aren't familiar with the island that is the big old high-end hotel in Galveston that is across the blvd. from the water. At least one out-of-town reporter mentioned on the air that they were staying at the Galvez. I hope they aren't planning on riding it out there.

Oh good gosh, that was hilarious on MSNBC. Please tell me y'all saw that.

Reporter standing near the water points out a snake, he doesn't know what kind it is. It's a rattler, according to one of the studio anchors.

Then reporter directs camera at a creature sitting on some debris floating in the water. He says it's a porcupine. Except it's a rat. A big rat. And the studio host points that out to him.

Could be worse. At least she's not a community organizer.

I wonder if it was hunting that porcupine rat the reporter pointed out right after that?

Between this, the "mayor" of Harris County telling people to "hunker down" and the people in Galveston, Port Bolivar and Crystal Beach who are sitting on the roofs of their flooded houses waiting for the Coast Guard to fly them out because they decided to stay in their houses ... I have one conclusion:

A good portion of Texicans have minimal cognitive function. :-\

No idea if this has been posted yet: DirecTV has picked up KHOU (CBS affiliate in Houston) on channel 361 and never shut down the hurricane information channel on 363.

I wish MSNBC was doing live streaming. I clicked on CNN but they're using the KHOU feed I'm already watching.

They're saying that enough beach sand has built up at the base of the wall that it's actually about 10 feet.

They keep this up, I don't think it'll be a problem for too much longer.

Maybe.... that was an impressive rattlesnake.

Frightening the reporter had no idea what it was.
