What does that mean?

The sand helps the water breach the wall? I'd think it would help protect the wall.

The Chronicle is reporting a 10-year-old boy has been killed in Montgomery County when a tree his parents were trying to cut down, fell on him.

Yep. I expect that's gone by the time I cook dinner.

I actually threw in the "Eastern" to head that off.

    Didn't work. :D

You must trim all large trees entering hurricane season.

But not as the outskirts of the storm are arriving. Jesus.

KHOU just talked about that kid too.

Waves have been overtopping the seawall for awhile now. When I first started watching a couple hours ago I thought the reporter was standing down on the beach because of the level of the water but he was actually up on Seawall Blvd.

No, it means that instead of standing up to a 17-foot storm surge it will only stand a surge of 10 feet. Based on what KHOU just showed, the surge has already put it up to 11.

Putting together a list of links for my paper's website, and wondering:

What's the best news/info radio outlet for the Houston/Galveston area?

Wunderground has taken the computer models off of the map. No point in scaring anyone else, I suppose.

See also: previous statement about Texicans. :-\

Some of these people remind me about people who moved to South Florida pre-Andrew, had never seen a big hurricane and figured, "It can't be that bad."

Just too easy, man. Although, technically, I guess he would be a Western Diamondback. :)
