I think the law in Texas prevents people from being removed from their property. Does not prevent dumbassery, however.

There was a classic yesterday (and maybe it's been mentioned here already).

Some guy named Shaun typed, '"ARE YOU GOING TO ANSWER MY QUESTIONS?"

    Eric Berger replied, "NO!!!!!!"

The eye is tightening and the winds are increasing. The Houston station just said it will effect the boat channel near Houston a lot and the wind is up to 110 mph.

Technically Cypress, but I think they're closer to Tomball.

How about they're telling people who stay to write their social security numbers on their arms so they can identify them!!
I can't imagine being in a situation of having to decide whether to leave or stay. My thoughts are with all these folks. And I hope to god FEMA is ready.

Houston's KHOU is reporting it will be a Cat 3 very soon.

Flooding in Houston has begun, despite no rain having fallen there.

KHOU is reporting there are 18 people trapped on roofs on the Bolivar (sp?) Peninsula. Police can't respond because of the weather.

Yep, Bolivar. Spit of land between the Gulf of Mexico and the East Bay.

That's fewer people than I expected based on earlier reports. If the Coasties can't get to them, they're fucked.

One of the cable news channels said it was one MPH from reaching Cat 3 status.
