Up in Conroe, we are just now feeling the winds, on and off. Our lights have flickered once, but are still on.

Ah, you're not far from the place I always call Del Boca Vista, because I can't remember the actual name (which sounds something like that). Hope you come out OK.

I apologize if this has already been posted but DirecTV is airing KHOU on ch. 361, which is great since TWC is 362.
Praying for all that live in the Houston area. Good luck.

Jim Cantore et al and their mastubatory glorification of these storms... they have blood on their hands for any deaths among those 23,000 or so who stayed behind

Having KHOU one channel down from Fox is providing a great contrast between local and national coverage.

Fox News is fucking Amateur Hour right now. Blaine Crease, uh I mean Geraldo Rivera, is lashed to a tree somewhere on Seawall Blvd. and his feed keeps cutting in and out. Despite that they keep throwing it to him every few minutes.

Hilarity ensued as he tried to talk to the Texas AG who was sitting in a studio in Austin. I think Geraldo thought he was talking to a military man because he kept calling him "General."

I must have missed where Cantore and the like told those people to stay put and devy the authorities.

Do you think a media blackout of the coverage would result in more people leaving?

    Yes.

These guys minimize the awesome power of these storms.

Minimize? They've been saying how big this storm is going to be for the past week. The fact they have people in the field is irrelevant because by the time they get there residents should have already been out.

You could have nobody down there and dumbasses are still gonna stay and rationalize their dumbass behavior. Ive read a lot of reaction from people who stayed and were going to ride it out. I heard one fool say he was staying because everything he owned was there and it was silly to leave and come back to nothing. I heard someone else say God would protect him. I have yet to hear someone say, "shit, if its good enough for Jim Cantore, It's good enough for me."
