    The Weather Channel is amazing.
They are live right now. It is astonishing to see it.
Makes me happy for Sunday to get here, when Ike rolls into town.
    Wheeeee

Be careful what you wish for. I seem to remember a big ole oak tree right next to your house.

My home is surrounded by giant trees on all sides.
After Gustav, guy down the street had a big tree go down because the ground was so saturated, it had basically turned into mush and the tree just fell over since the roots didn't have anything to hang on to.
I suspect the upstairs deck won't survive.
    Good times, good times.

And that three-d image from NASA that the weather channel just put up was pretty damn cool.

Wow, the latest AP story is nuts.

It's saying there are tons of calls coming into the Galvaston command center seeking help, but no one is going out until the storm passes.

I have a feeling there are going to be a whole lot of deaths in Galvaston in the morning.

It's amazing flipping between the coverage.

All the national channels are all about the drama. "They just won't know what it's like until the morning."

KHOU is all about the info.

Great website to keep up with Houston coverage ... just mute the station you don't want to watch

To some extent, I feel sorry for those people now trapped in their homes or on top of their roofs, but at the same time, they had a chance to leave.

Thankfully, I live in an area that has never been under a mandatory evacuation for a hurricane, but even if they issue a voluntary evacuation (which they usually do if a storm is heading our way), I don't take a chance.

I just have a feeling that Galveston/Houston is what New Orleans was in 2005 prior to Katrina. Galveston has gone so long between catastrophic storms that they can't remember what it's like. Some of them really had no idea what was headed their way, despite what they were hearing on TV/radio/newspapers.
