Good news for Houstonians facing days without power: First cool front of the year is expected to push through early next week. High temps in the low 80s, lows in the mid-60s.

Seriously? In the wake of a hurricane, I'd be surprised if a boil order didn't happen, especially in a low-lying area like Houston.

Hurricane has cleared out of downtown Houston. Shattered glass everywhere, along with legal files that got blown out of windows.

CNN just had a great moment. Reporter's on live and a guy's walking by behind him. He stops and talks to him. Guy says he evacuated to the big hotel on Galveston from his home a few blocks away.

CNN reporter asks: "How's your home."

    Guy: "It's destroyed. Gone."

CNN reporter starts to talk again, and the guy leans back into the mic.

"Hey, if my girlfriend Colleen's watching, your apartment's fine baby. We're moving in together."

KHOU had tape of a memorial to the 1900 hurricane in Galveston that was destroyed.
    Wow.
    I can't stop watching.
DirecTV deserves kudos for airing this channel.

    Texans-Ravens is a no-go:

The facility will not be usable," said Shey Guinn, president of SMG, the company that manages Reliant Park.
"There's some structural damage to the roof. Part of it is off," Guinn said.
"There's also some other damage on the property caused by wind and water. We're in the process of assessing the damage," he said. "As far as the game being postponed again or played, that will be up to the NFL."

If Astros play another home game all year, I will be stunned. Texans, too.

Doesn't matter how big the city is, if the water treatment plant floods, you don't get water.

The only advantage bigger cities have is more treatment plants. But if the storm is bad enough, you're SOL.

  12. Talked to my buddy who lives in Houston area. He came through with some minor structural damage--lost some shingles and a gate, and some water came in under the back door.

He works near Reliant Stadium, so not sure how his place of business fared.
