Agreed. It was fascinating. I had a noon FB game to cover today, or else I would've stayed up all night. So interesting to get the local perspective (much different and more nuanced than the "I'm lashed to the tree in this awful storm" look that CNN and The Weather Channel were giving.

    What's up with the Astros?

The park is playable they say, but isn't that sort of a moot point? Who the fuck is going to come? MLB should have moved this series.

I look for MLB to add the series at the end of the year, if the games are needed.

What, a Monday tripleheader, if necessary?

All you need is 18 players and 4 umpires. Don't need no stinkin' fans.

The series Simon. The three games would be added if needed. If they played a triple header, you, me and a few others would be very impressed.

I try being nice to you.... know you are a little slow... like a drip.

How many fucking days do you think they have after the regular season to play a three-game series?

Galveston mayor said so far 17 structures have been found that have failed. 10 by fire, and 3 of the 7 other are multi-level apartment buildings.

She said they've barely been able to search any of the island and have no idea how many people are trapped in those buildings that are down.

There are still fires burning uncontrollably in Galveston with no end in sight. The city has no water pressure and no power throughout. The causeway that connects the town to the mainland is severely damaged and multiple parts of the road have buckled.

I'm confused. I remember Katrina wiping out nearly everything in its path in cities like Biloxi. Why not the same damage in Galveston? Did the seawall keep out most of the storm surge?

Oh, I think in the end it might be that way. The mayor said they haven't even gotten to three-fourths of the city yet.

Also, wasn't Katrina stronger? And the bad side of Katrina hit Biloxi, where as Ike kicked north at the last little bit to make landfall just east of Galveston.

KHOU just showed some cool footage of a 500 bus and truck convoy coming to Houston from San Antonio. They said another convoy is en route from Austin to Houston.

I don't know about fucking days after the regular season but if a playoff berth needed to be determined, I'm sure MLB would have no problem pushing back the start of any series to get the games in.
However, this is a maybe situation. Why are you so worried and worked up over something that may not happen?
