If you're Francona, do you really want to fuck with Papelbon's confidence? You're going to need him in the World Series.

I think at this point, Papelbon would understand. Especially with how dominant Beckett has been this month.

Boy, that doesn't sound like Papelbon.

At this stage, it can't be about the individual.

    Papelbon will finish this game.

Any rational person would agree with you.

I'm not arguing about Johnny Papelbon, the individual.

He's probably baseball's best closer. Tito Francona is going to need him in the World Series. Why introduce doubt in Papelbon's pysche by pulling him in Game Seven of the ALCS?

With a three-run lead in the ninth, I don't think there'll be an issue. But I don't know if Papelbon would take it as an insult to his talent if Beckett were brought in to nail everything down if he were struggling. Game 7 of the ALCS is a special situation. I think you've got to use every weapon possible, and Papelbon should understand it.

    So, who's your ALCS MVP?

    Beckett?
    Manny?
    Youkilis?

    Beckett.

    I'd go with Beckett.
