Just think how'd I'd feel if it'd been 100 years since my last World Series win.

It's only been 7 years since my team last won one. Just thought I'd get that out there.

7 years and over a billion $ spent, yet no ring to show.

Kevin Millar was practically begging for a spot on next year's roster...kind of pathetic and weird since he plays in the same division, but I guess that's what a few years in Baltimore will do to a player. Definitely always a fan favorite though and seeing him and Papelbon in the clubhouse together would be worth it.

Tight game for the majority, with a bit of a reversal by the two starters. Dice-K was extremely effective in the beginning innings, while Westbrook became much stronger as the game went along. I think the Sox hitters were beginning to press because they had missed so many opportunities to drive in runs with those damn double plays. Okijima and Papelbon pitched well and I'm glad Beckett wasn't needed. The Sox offense started pouring in the runs once Westbrook exited and Betancourt came in...did Westbrook leave too early perhaps?

Looks like the Sox have found their starting CF for the next decade and that is Jacoby Ellsbury. Coco has to have some decent trade value for his glove alone, as he is in my estimation the best fielding CF in the American League. What a play he made to end the game.

With all that said my Sox won the pennant! Damn good night, watched the clinching game with my Dad like old times ('03 and '04 postseasons, when I was still in high school). Plan to spend the first few games at a friends at Boston University.

I love the Rockies and their story to get this far. Against any other team, I'd root for them to win it all. But I obviously got to go with the Sox and I'm going to say Boston in 6.

That's OK. At least they make the playoffs. I'd hate to spend tons of money (Mets, I'm looking at you) and not even have the hope of winning the World Series.

    To be clear:

David Ortiz moved from an organization where he wasn't encouraged to swing for the fences, in a weak lineup and in a ballpark that is notoriously tough on lefties -- and where he was expected to play the field and kept getting hurt -- to an organization where he was encouraged to swing for the fences, hitting in front of Manny Ramirez in a ballpark that is heaven for lefties and where he wasn't expected to play the field but only DH, where he played 150 games a year.

Combine that with him hitting the age of 27 when he moved to Boston -- weird, I think that's the peak production age for most players, and I am shocked, I tell you, shocked, to see that he's increased his production.

    Must be steroids.

Who was the Twins' DH when he played there?

Yeah Dice-K was great in the first 3 innings then was struggling badly during the last the 4th and 5th but finished the 5th without being pulled as he was during his first two post-season starts.
Westbrook only looked good in his last three innings because the Sox batters look to be a bit impatient, especially with Ortiz.

I hope he gets his big swing back in the WS. But the bottom of the line up is stepped up big time during the last two games.

Edit: My reply was to bostonbred's post.

The Twins rarely, if ever, have an everyday DH.

Ortiz got the bulk of his at bats there, but he was pressured to learn a position. Just like he was pressured to hit singles the other way.

I love TK, but he wasn't exactly on the cutting edge of baseball analysis.
