Unlike the Yankees, they're actually (gasp) winning.

This team reminds me of the Yankee teams of the late '90s, who actually had significant contributions from home-grown players.

Lugo, Ramirez, Ortiz and Drew are the high-priced free agents, and Ortiz was not a big-money signee at first, since he didn't start juicing until he joined the Red Sox. Everyone else was acquired via trade (granted Beckett/Lowell came in a money-driven trade) or developed through the system (C, 1B, 2B, Papelbon).

Hinske is by all accounts a good team guy and made one of the top 10 catches of the season against the Tigers, in which he went on an all-out dive, caught the ball, and took the abuse as his head violently snapped back as it hit against the field. Then he hit a homer two innings later to break a 2-2 tie. Millar's still a way better hitter though and he's one of Manny's best friends in baseball. He had a pretty good season with the Orioles and I'd welcome him back as a solid backup.

Have you considered a SoSH application?

I hope you don't cover the Red Sox, even on an intermittent basis.

Are you this much of an asshole 24/7?

No, I do not cover the Sox.

I am a fan. A journalist first, but in this case, a fan.

I have said nothing to compromise my standards, journalistically. I basically said, I don't give a shit what a fanboy looser like you says about what you think of the Sox, I'm just grateful to see something like this, up close and personal.

Wanna rip me for that post, too?

Wish I knew where his hostility came from. Consider me a people-watcher, and I'm trying to figure out this stooge's issue.

The definition of a troll: Stirring shit up, then pleading for decorum.

Sounds like boots, all over again.

    Come on is right.

You come on here, start arguments out of the blue like an asshat -- with vitriol that made it clear you weren't kidding -- then expect people to forget about it?

    Fuck you.

    Turning things back to baseball:

Boston is hitting the shit out of the ball right now -- even when they lost in the Cleveland series, they hit a ton of balls hard -- and I just don't see Colorado slowing them down.

Thanks, Zeke, for making me re-focus.
