Can't think of any ... not with a team quite like this. You expect a dominant postseason run from a team as stacked as the '98 Yanks (or, yes, even the '04 Sox.)

For a seven-game run, that was better. But does that even compare to what the Rockies have done when you include the run at the end of the regular season just to get in?

    Amazing stuff.

Excuse me, but this makes it 3-0 Rockies in the NLCS. I'm not celebrating until a fourth game is won by this team.

I do, however, wonder if Owings or Webb will be pitching on Monday for Arizona.

Oh, and World Series tickets go on sale Oct. 22.

That's eight in a row. Against stout competition, no doubt, but eight in a row, and only four were elimination games.

The Rockies have won 20 of 21, and at least 13 of them were elimination games.

    That's insane.

How long was that run Oakland had in August a few years back? Didn't they win like 20 in a row?

I think you have to throw Webb, though I hope they don't go blowing his arm out. (keeperleaguefantasybaseballlooser)

    I wonder that, too.

For selfish reasons, of course, I hope it's Owings. Besides -- and I can't believe I'm saying this -- I don't think Arizona stands any better of a chance no matter which one they throw. They're going to have to do a lot of things differently to have any chance of pulling out of this hole. Might as well try the rookie and see if he can give them a spark.

I think it was 20 on the dot.

Plus you've got an "extra" hitter, too.

2002 A's won 20 in a row, the American League record.

    1935 Cubs won 21 in a row.
1916 Giants hold the record with 26 (although there's an asterisk, because there was a tie called by darkness in the middle of that streak.)

The Rockies, meanwhile, are working on a 9-game win streak. If they sweep the LCS and WS, they'd finish with 14 wins in a row ... and, of course, 25 of their final 26.

And no team has ever gone 11-0 in the new postseason format. The Yankees went 11-1 in 1999; the White Sox were 11-1 in 2005; and the Red Sox were 11-3 in 2004.
