$100 million isn't for the one season. Here's hoping he makes a Beckett-like turnaround next year (even if it's to a somewhat lesser degree)

Matsuzaka pitched OK. Lofton's home run was out by about six inches. Most of the other hits he gave up were grounders up the middle. Wasn't really his fault. But, of course, Westbrook pitched better. The grounders he gave up went right at people. And the Sox vaunted patience at the plate vanished in his presence.

I still say you try to use your ace twice rather than once. But I like it better this way. As I said earlier, I've got Webb on two keeper teams. Anything that keeps him healthy I like.

It just continues to amaze me that the team that tied for the best record in baseball continues to win playoff games.

Tulowitzki is fun to watch. Two very good plays in a row, one on the ground and one about nine feet in the air.

And Owings beat both of his throws by a combined 8 inches. :D

Matsuzaka threw 101 pitches to get 14 outs while allowing eight baserunners. That's not OK. It's poor.

1-0 Diamondbacks. Owings driven in by Conor Jackson. Somewhere, a Lancaster Jethawks fan tells his buddy -- "I saw both guys play in the Cal League"

Tulowitzki's got to throw the ball about 85-90 mph, easily. He's got a fucking cannon.

Tiger fan Hank Scorpio was ragging on Westbrook in August and I'll say the same thing tonight I said then: The dude was best by injuries this year and actually pitched pretty damn well in the second half.

So for everyone making the hilarious "Who's this guy?" jokes, perhaps pay a little better attention? Westbrook shutting folks down isn't stop-the-presses material. The guy can actually pitch.

In Theo's defense, Nixon sucks at this point, original Dirt Dog or not. Not in Theo's defense, Drew didn't look much better in his first year in Boston.
