Seriously, tell me you can really think through the implications of the name Richard Rider without chuckling?

Stop it! He's a Richard, or a Rich. He's one of the greatest superheroes in Marvel history! Don't sully my excitement, dagnabbit.

Hehe. I remember Spider-Man making a joke about it in some comic during in a conversation with the younger Nova, Sam Alexander.

I was never big on the more cosmic stories in Marvel Comics, but I am curious to see what they do with the character.

I think there's a good chance they introduce Rider as a way to eventually get to Sam. I'm hoping they use this as a chance to finally show Thanos destroying the Nova Corps to get the Power Stone. I mean, they gotta do that in some capacity, right?

That is a great idea. I think the decimation of the Nova Corps by Thanos would be a fantastic opening sequence for a Nova story, whether it be a movie or a Disney+ series.

That's kinda what I was thinking. Would give the project a grounding in something folks not familiar with the comic characters would understand, and sets the intergalactic stakes right away. I'm hoping we get to see it done in some way.

Exactly, and that is the sort of thing they have done well in the MCU. Take the Blip flashbacks in Hawkeye and WandaVision. Both of those scenes are fantastic.

I don't think they are screwing it up. Kamala Kahn is not for middle aged men at Comic Con trying to get a 9.5 XMen 137. Kamala Kahn is for girls and teen age girls. It's for American non-Christians you are searching for their place.

The bones of the story is there. The iconic panels are still there. They might be running a fourth-wall at us and her powers might be different and have a different origin, but that is still Kamala Kahn in that trailer.

I know there has been criticism of the change in her powers, though I haven't really given it much thought. I agree that, at least in the trailer, it seemed true to Kamala Kahn. My only concern came from rumors that once they started shooting, the Marvel powers-that-be developed concerns about the actress. Of course, the report I saw could have been bullshit.
