I found it to be emotionally exhausting, but in a good way, if that makes sense. I can't imagine myself rewatching it anytime soon, but Gunn definitely "stuck" the landing in terms of having characters evolve and grow over a couple of movies. It'll be interesting to see if he can do that at DC as well, or if the lack of supervision or executive meddling will thwart him.

His version of the DCEU could be bonkers, but maybe they need a little bonkers. They supposedly gave him a great deal of freedom for The Suicide Squad. The result was a bit much for some people, but I thought it was entertaining. The same is true of Peacemaker. Both managed to weave character growth in with storylines that go full-on batshit.

Was the best Marvel movie since Endgame.

    So much TSS/Peacemaker cast crossover.

    Other observations:

The Rocket storyline was incredibly sad. The movie was surprisingly close in tone to the GotG video game. I'd give Gunn shit for casting his girlfriend, but, as in Peacemaker, she did a really good job (tho in a minor role).

They are married now, and she's not a bad actress.

I knew there was a lot of crossover in those two casts. He definitely has actors he likes to work with and he will find ways to work them in.

One other thing that just might be me over-analyzing…

Chess pieces have been moved into position for the potential to come back together for something big.

And these end credits really make you want to walk back into the theater and watch another 150 minutes of movie.

Adam Warlock isn't the bumbler he is in the movie in the comics, right?

I think it's the opposite - he's usually one of the most powerful beings in the universe, like on that Captain Marvel / Scarlet Witch level, but he's mostly in cosmic space adventures and not interacting with the Avengers and X-Men that much. In this movie / multiverse, his mother mentions that the High Evolutionary made him emerge before he was ready maturing.

In the video game he was extremely powerful, and spoke in a very poetic manner.

I am very much looking forward tho this movie. I am also wondering about the parental judgment of some of these characters, though having an infant "Mayday" Parker as a character seems like a hell of a lot of fun.
