So, the older I get, the more I realize that everyone has their own shit when it comes to mental health. Of course, the type and severity differ from person to person, but it’s out there.

I’m starting this thread with this story. This started with a mental health issue and ended with a gun issue. A healthy mind does not do this.

Nothing in that article or others I’ve read that say the guy was mentally ill. People are assuming that because what stable person would shoot his family dead, right? Well, maybe this one.

A healthy mind does not slaughter their family.

I was hoping this was a thread where people could discuss how they are taking care of themselves during the shitstorm of <waves arms around> all this.

By the skin of my teeth. The last year has been tough for reasons I can't quite put my finger on. Going on long walks everyday on the beach, or around town and feeding the homeless, has helped a great deal.

I’d suggest the Mardy Fish doc on Netflix, very emotional to watch and enlightening.

No. A healthy person walks away from toxic people.

    This discussion is needed.

    So is this one.

    That, too.

It’s just watching Lasso, have a friend take his life, two daughter’s friends try, keeping tabs on a handful of people… and that’s my little world.

When I saw this in The Athletic, instead of thinking guns, I thought mental health.

I think it’s pretty obvious that not enough people in this country are not getting the mental health care they need. That’s not just the poor. That’s everyone.

If you see a psychiatrist, you used to be considered “psycho” or “crazy.” I guess calling people “mental health specialists” would be a good start.

The husband was the toxic one.

We went backwards when Reagan released people from psychiatric facilities and. Said they were better (and cheaper) on their own. We’ve been fighting the wave of destruction since.
