The Marlins are simply mashing the hell out of RFK this week. Cabrera looks like Henry Aaron, and Hanley Ramirez is Ricky Henderson reincarnated. I'm sure Anibal will be Cy fucking Young today too.

The Marlins are quite lucky that their final three exhibition games get to count in the standings. This Nationals team is horseshit, no matter how badly Manny Acta wants you to think otherwise.

And Chris, you have to be kidding, right?

Jacobs goes deep for the Fish. The Nats announcer just said "it's downstairs, but it counts too" since that homer didn't make it to the upper deck. Good thing tickets are as low as $5!

Chico is definitely not the man. (The Nats' starting "pitcher"). That 8.00+ staff ERA isn't getting any better.

    If that's true ... wow.

And, if true, Theo should be fired... and lynched.

  7. I think I speak for a great number of people on the board when I say:
    Whoa.
Gonna need a couple sources on this one, I think.

    Embarassing.

This from a Cubs fanboy looser.

Here's the other thing: You don't know whether to be mad at Terry Ryan or at Gardy or both. Maybe Ryan signs these guys and Gardy's hands are tied.

That said, they do more with less than any other team in the league, and there are no other managers or general managers I'd rather have. I get mad at them the way you get mad at your family. If someone else were to criticize them, I'd be the first to back them up.

But with the way this team stacks up pitching-wise in 2008 -- Santana, Liriano, Bonser, Garza and Baker -- you'd think you'd want to get Garza a full year in the majors this year. If Liriano can even be a legitimate #2 when he comes back, Bonser is a WAY above average #3 (he's statistically identical to Chien Ming-Wang). That leaves Garza as the four, and with his arm, he, too, can be WAY above average in that spot.

In other words, why try to patch holes when you could be building the league's best pitching staff for 2008? Especially when the kids probably give you as much chance to win this year as the retreads?

  10. I thought it was common knowledge in Boston. I'm sorry if I'm speaking out of school.

The flip side of the trade is also interesting. Most people think that Mike Lowell was added to the deal as a contract dump but the truth is he burned too many bridges in South Florida. The last straw was when he was caught peeing in the pool at Clevelander's.

    From the diving board.

While shouting "I'm Batman" in Spanish.

You had me thinking about believing you until that last pile of crap.

    Is it still April 1?

    Lowell was DONE.

  12. No - no - seriously.

Even though Lowell had a pretty big contract - he was perhaps the most popular player in Miami because of his Cuban roots. It was only after his behavior got out of hand that the Marlins insisted that he be part of the deal.

Stuff like this happens all the time in baseball. The truth is always stranger than fiction.
