Pat the bat as been a joke for a long time. He's getting abused by Philly fans but in a sense, they feel like he's dogged it for the last couple of years. Can't say that I blame them for feeling that way. He reminds me of Kevin McReynolds a guy who will put up good numbers with no substance.

Sad thing is, Burrell (at least for now) is one of two guys actually hitting. No, it won't last, but if he was EVER going to catch a break, it would be now.

And, FWIW, when the discussion of worst bullpens ever comes up, make sure you remember Phillies2007.

They picked up Rosario from Toronto for cash. That deal was good. He has a live arm and should help. It's still too early. Gordon might be in his final year as a closer but he should be adequate. Madson has got to regain the velocity he had two years ago to be effective. Garcia is a mystery but we'll see how that shakes out.

Plenty of baseball and plenty of time for many teams to fuck up.

Classic pitching matchup in Atlanta tonight:

Oliver Perez (NYM) vs. Mark Redman (ATL).

This would be a perfectly appropriate time for Ortiz' deal with the devil to expire.

I had him when he was in Minnesota (hi Zeke!) and his flashes of greatness were obscured by all the injuries. He goes to Boston, someone else drafts him as I laugh and of course he explodes. I get him back and..........

Indians are about to blow it open. What happened to Victor Martinez? Was it serious?
