That was an amazing at-bat. I thought for sure he'd lace a two-run single.

Yankee frontrunners booed Torre as he walked off the mound. Ahh yes. the smell of fear.

And I have no idea how Bob Carpenter is as a broadcaster, but he makes a damn fine scorebook.

Awwww. Captain Intangibles flew out to end the game.

It was actually a great at-bat made even better by the ending. :D

    I'm calling it.

    The Yankees are done.

They aren't catching the Red Sox, and the WC will come from the Central.

Way to be ahead of the curve there, big guy. :D :D

I called this two years ago. I was just two years too early!!!

To be fair, I predicted same before the season started.

BTW, as a fan forced to follow my team on Yahoo -- as I'm sure others on here are -- is there anything less reassuring when you can't watch the games than having the fucking stattracker tell you that "undefined" is pitching for your nine?

The Bosox' magic number to knock out the Yankees is 104. Could be 103 if the Bosox finish off the Strangers.

Bonds ends his homer slump and is now nine away from Aaron.

I just wanted to say I really enjoyed KC's recent run of respectable baseball. It was fun looking in on Yahoo with anticipation. After three beatings by Seattle, I'll return to checking the progress with a sense of dread, as always.

dd, the thing that surprised me about KC was that they seemed resigned to defeat once they got down handily in those first two games. I expected more fight out of a young team that had been playing well for a stretch. The M's aren't THAT imposing.

On another subject: it seems that Cleveland and Detroit are going to whale away on one another in the Central. Unless you believe, like the jamokes on Baseball Tonight last night--poor Eduardo Perez, I've not seen you look so lost since you fell down trying to sprint out of the box last year--that Roger Clemens is going to bring the Yankees roaring back; unless you believe that nonsense, I say, what team is going to keep the Red Sox from the best record in the AL?

If the Angels sweep the M's the next three, they might be a contender.
