i love watching the yankees lose. i didn't even really hate them until recently (i disliked them but never hated them) but for some reason i've come to despise them over the past three seasons. mainly it's because they think they can buy success, which has been proven time and again since 2000, to be wrong. and yet they just don't figure it out.

the BBTN guys were analyzing their failures a few minutes ago and the consensus seemed to be that neither torre nor cashman should get fired (not such a surprising analysis from two ex-players and a former GM) but someone should get demoted. ok, great idea. demote doug mienetkiewicz to triple-a. that'll shake things up.

Mets are beginning to open up a lead in the N.L. East.

Yankees are falling way off the pace in the A.L. East.

It's going to be an enjoyable summer in the NYC...

I love how Torre and Cashman get the credit when everything is going great, but this year it's not their fault. Just excuses.

Another great move by MLB: Not every team plays on Memorial Day! I think this happened last year, too, on July 4 and Labor Day.

Sometimes I wonder how MLB does so well in spite of itself ...

While I am convinced the Red Sox will slow down appreciably in the next 40-50 games, their lead won't shrink too much. The Yankees are suffering the flip side of all those tough wins they grinded out in the late '90s. They can't make anything happen. When it switches back and forth from failing pitching to failing hitting at will, that's a sign of a season long problem.
BTW, Phillies sweep Braves. Back from the defunct to the respectable.

I bet the Braves don't get within 3 games of the Mets for the rest of the season.

Mets... 3-6 vs. the Braves... leave Atlanta up 1 1/2...now it's 4 1/2 .... and the Mets have a better record now than they did at this point last season.

And the Yankees are so finished!

As for whoever mentioned not every team playing on Memorial Day...NO BASEBALL IN NYC TOMORROW!!!
Yanks at Toronto, Mets OFF...fucking ridiculous.

Jiminy Christmas, I didn't know that the Nats had that much shuffling taking place in their booth. Carpenter was good with the Cardinals. I noticed that he wasn't doing the Cardinals games now that Jay Randolph is in the booth with Rick Horton. I didn't know Sutton is with the Nats' now. We've been so used to seeing The Perm do the Braves for so damn long.

I do find it interesting that when you have a t.v. booth filled with pbp guys like the Redbirds and the Braves, it sucks when you have to be the odd man out.

Wimpy was the only good thing about White Sox telecast. He made it listenable, which is a compliment in contrast to you-know-who.

Is Ray Knight still camped out at the buffet table and threatening Jim Rome?

Holliday is an institution at College Park, Pimlico, and Maryland. He shouldn't be grouped in the conversation with Mr. Nancy Lopez, for no reason.
