Felix Hernandez going against Jered Weaver tonight in Anaheim of LA in LaLaLand. Compelling young guns matchup, in theory at least.

'Twould be nice if Felix would take the bit in his teeth as he did against Boston earlier this year. Vlad vs. Felix--good stuff.

Whoever was talking about AL all star starters: Dan Haren

Re Haren, how's his arm holding up? He blew the M's away, in April, then had to sit for a while, no?

Wow.... stunned Mark Reynolds is back in the lineup tonight.

Love seeing a guy so motivated to hold onto the chance in The Show he has gotten.

That was a pretty serious-looking collision with Medders last night.

Well, you can be tied after 7, too.

Regardless, I'd be curious to know the records of recent good teams when trailing after 7.

Almost every team has a horrible record when trailing after 7 innings, even the big winners.

Maybe you're thinking of Rich Harden, not Dan Haren.

Oh shit. This almost deserves its own thread. I have the Yankees-Blue Jays game on. Top of the ninth inning. Two outs. Yankees up by two. Two men on. Jorge Posada hits a pop up. Third baseman and Shortstop both settling under the ball. Third baseman settles under it to catch it and at the last second moves out of the way and the ball drops in... It happens just as ARod is rounding second on his way to third and after the play, the third baseman, John McDonald is all pissed off and wants to take a run at ARod, who apparently called "I got it" while he was running past... John Gibbons came out and had words... Man was that funny, but it is just going to add to his reputation as a bitch.

EDITED: Got some details wrong... fixed.

McDonald is playing third, not short. Pop was between third and short, A-Rod on his way to third..McDonald flinched, looked over his shoulder at the shortstop and the ball dropped.
If A-Rod did yell "I got it." it's a brilliant play... broke open the game

Agreed. I root against A-Rod because it's fun to root against A-Rod.

But boy, that's an awesome play. Baseball can use all the creativity it can get, and that was creative brilliance.

Yeah. I realized all this. Was typing it quickly and got all the details wrong. Third baseman was going to catch it and shortstop was behind him. McDonald at third, Howie Clark at short. It was McDonald who looked like he wanted to rip his head off.

Buck -- What is the most important stat in gauging how effective a pitcher is?
