Honestly whoever came up with this production format should have his resume updated and an account to Jobing.com

I miss my VMAs that were big, gaudy productions and dare I say treated with some self-proclaimed level of importance. It's like they are just running this show because they forgot to send a press release that it's been canceled.

"Thank you, MTV, but play more damn videos. We don't want to see no Simpsons on reality TV."

Some might not like his music, but J-Timberlake spoke the truth there.

Hopefully it was a one-shot deal

  6. great move when justin timberlake told mtv to play more videos and less reality shows for second time, but the fact that he said it right next to the girls from the hills was priceless.

Every day, I am prouder and prouder to say I haven't watched 15 minutes of MTV in 15 years. (And this from someone who had it on close to 24/7 for the best part of a decade.)

Can somebody start a grassroots campaign to get this piece-of-shit channel OFF our cable systems?

MTV needs Pacman Jones to make it rain in Vegas again. That would hold my interest.

  9. As someone who began watching the VMAs in the late 90s during my Backstreet Boys phase (I was a teeny bopper, I have no shame), I turned away from MTV during college. I turned it on tonight just to see Britney -- I was proud of her for making it through the entire performance. I thought she would cancel.

Besides her and Justin Timberlake (where are the other members of 'N Sync?), I don't know who the vast majority of these people are. I think Linkin Park might be screaming right now. The production has been sad. I've seen repeats of the VMAs from the mid-90s with amazing performances of Snoop Dogg's "Murder was the Case The Case That They Gave Me" and Bone Thugs "Crossroads." And there was the classic Nirvana performance that began with "Rape Me" and ended with the bassist hitting himself on the head with his bass. Oh and Dave Grohl yelling "Axl." (I think I have those performances right. If not, I apologize).

What is wrong with music today? I am 22 and sick of MTV.

So far Alicia Keys' performance is the best - and possibly only worthy - performance of this show. Solid cover of George Michael's "Freedom '90."

  11. I was hoping George Michael would get to perform, too. Oh well.
