Grant Hill didn't amount to much in the NBA?

Eh, I knew someone was going to say that ... I meant collectively they certainly don't have the NBA profile of the other groups mentioned. Hill just was so stifled by injury that his NBA resume doesn't quite match up to the leading stars on those other teams cited. And looking back on those college years he was the #3 player on that team, it was Laettner and Hurley's team more than anything.

Was Danny Manning not the AP player of the year?

I think many of you are underestimating the ability of a great shot blocker like Davis (and Withey, right, Mr. Sullinger and Mr. Davis?) to shut down another team's offense.

I don't think Duke has had a really great team, yet, to go on this list because they have never had a Davis or a Walton in the middle.

Hersey Hawkins won it that season.

Yes, and they struggled so mightily when facing Alonzo Mourning, Shaquille O'Neal and Chris Webber.

This was a really good Kentucky team, but I'm not sure it was clearly better than any of the Final Four teams from 2008. Outside of UK, college basketball was down this year.

The 1996 team had seven guys who had legitimate NBA careers and two more that played in the league for short periods. That's nine NBA players. Plus some of those kids were juniors and they had some sophomores as well.

In other words, they had more talent than this Kentucky team, they were deeper than this Kentucky team and they were more experienced than this Kentucky teams.

The UNLV teams from the early 1990's would have carved this team up. Ditto the Duke team that repeated in like 1993.

The North Carolina team with Sean May and company would have given this Kentucky team fits.

The second Florida team would have beaten this Kentucky team.

I loved watching Kentucky play this year, they are very good, but people are losing their minds with just how good they are.

This kid is a much better shot blocker than those three, IMHO.

MIchigan was as talented as this Kentucky team, but half as smart.

Did any of the teams you just listed have a player as good as Davis?

I don't know, Christian Laettner may just be the greatest college basketball player of all time not named Bill Walton - and he was a senior.

Larry Johnson was a little above average as well.

Oh and lest we forget the UConn team that won it - not the last one but the one in like 2006 or so that had all those NBA guys.

And I'm thinking that the five guys who collectively made up Florida's starting five may have been able to overcome Davis.

I know what is new is always fashionable, but this is getting ridiculous.

Man, of all people, I never thought you would be the person to type that about Laettner.

Let's see how these Kentucky players do in the pros, because the college sample size is pretty much over.
