Really? I don't want to turn this into Joe Walton, but Bill Cartwright played there as well.

On an offensive lane violation the ref has to call it at the moment of the violation. It's only a delayed call on a defensive violation.

Good lord does Carolina have a clear path to the Elite Eight now ... Creighton, then the winner of South Florida-Ohio.

Bird attended IU for about a month. So, technically, yes.

I dunno, South Florida has a parallel universe VCU feel. Instead of havoc, mind-numbingly dull defense lives here. Carolina obviously has the horses to break through it, but the Bulls are a tough out, especially if they can control the tempo.

  7. It didn't seem like the whistle blew until after the ball went through the net. (At the same time, there's nonexcuse for Grant to do that after what happened with Syracuse and Asheville.)

I can't see that happening. Seems like Creighton is the tougher game for UNC.

And Xavier appears on the way to their regular spot in the Sweet 16. That would make it 4 out of the last 5 years Xavier is playing into the second week of the tournament.

Because it gives you one of the teams in Sporcle's back-to-back champions quiz.

    *ducking*

If it's player v player and no advantage is gained, refs generally let them play on. That's a foul situation, penalty on a player, and a judgement call.

But when a player steps out-of-bounds or steps in the lane, that's a violation, no penalty on a player. Entirely different. Has to be called.

And I love the Bluejays, but for Creighton, defense is a dirty word. And that style of play is right up Roy's alley.
