When was the last year either Raliegh, Greensboro or Charlotte didn't host a first and second round site that Duke or Naw Carolina couldn't be placed in?

I'm guessing that USF is the first play-in winner to ever wear its home uniform in a tournament game.

Nantz and Kellogg just noted on the NC-Creighton game that if Ohio beats South Florida, the Bobcats -- featuring Kellogg's son -- face North Carolina. Can't imagine the duo would be moved out of the NC assignment particularly now with Duke out.

I don't have a problem with things like that happening organically. I'm sure it will be questioned, but this wouldn't be like when CBS had Bill Walton do Luke's games just for the effect. More like the Griese situation where one guy was doing his normal job and the kid played his way into the path. I'm fine with that.

CBS Radio/Westwood One had John Thompson calling Georgetown's games (coached by his son) in Columbus this weekend.

Doesn't CBS normally put its No. 1 crew with the No. 1 seed for the second weekend?

Or does CBS consider UNC & Duke to be No. 1 seeds no matter what the NCAA says?

I don't know if there is a hard and fast rule about #1. I always thought they assigned that crew the games they thought would get the highest ratings, and nearly always in the Eastern time zone.

Then St. Louis is probably where they'll be. a potential KU-UNC regional final looks more attractive than any of the other possibilities.

You gotta go all the way back ... to 2010. Just two tourneys ago.

The eight pod sites in 2010 were Buffalo, Jacksonville, Milwaukee, New Orleans, Oklahoma City, Providence, San Jose and Spokane.

North Carolina doesn't have a site in next year's tournament either.

Not sure if it's more perception than reality, but it does seem that whenever NC has a site, Duke or Carolina will be placed there.

Oh no doubt. They do host more often than not.

But in the new pod system there's no way they wouldn't be placed there. Top four seeds get maximum consideration to play near home regardless of the region they end up in.
