Is Joe Zappulla still producing "One Shining Moment"? He lived down the hall from me sophomore year.
Didn't see it, but if he put it together and didn't include Greg Echinique posterizing John Henson in Round 3, well, maybe the beer I saw him drink out of a sneaker had toxic effects after all.

Kentucky last night looked like one of the best teams of all time - until about the 10-minutes to go mark when their assholes got tight and Calipari decided to try and run out the clock.

If he would have blown this one, they'd have him hanging outside Rupp Arena this morning.

This is my annual request to please, for everyone's sake, retire "One Shining Moment." What dated, mawkish crap on a stick that song is.

Which teams would give the Kentucky team a very hard time? Let's use the last 40 years as a sample pool...

I would say Kareem's and Walton's UCLA teams would probably be favored over this UK team. Jordan's Carolina, Ewing's Georgetown and Johnson's UNLV teams would probably play this group at a pick-em line.

So, yeah, that was a really good team we watched last night.

For those who watch them more closely than I do, how does this Kentucky team compare to the 1996 one? Remember, that team had nine players who were eventually selected in the NBA draft.

That's been the big debate on FB. The ruling has come down, largely, to '96 winning in a running game, '12 winning in a half-court game.

    1996 didn't have Davis

    He's the difference maker.

Hey, they had Mark Pope! That's similar! :D

I'm partial to '96 because I was in school then and I still liked the basketball team at that point.

Devil, I agree with your assessement, but watching Davis go up against Kareem and Walton sure would be fun. I think Ewing would've given him mucho trouble, too.

Andy Katz has his 2012-13 top 25 up here. Among the highlights: Indiana No. 1, Louisville 2, N.C. State 6 (and the ACC favorite), Creighton 18 and VCU 22.

For reference sake, his post-tournament top 25 for 2011-12 had Texas and UConn in the top 5, Memphis and Arizona in the top 10, and UCLA, Butler and George Mason in the top 25. So salt, grain and all. But he did hit Kentucky at No. 1.

Indiana isn't a bad pick at No. 1. They should be really, really, really good.

Hell, seeing him go against Duncan, Howard and Gasol/Bynum is going to fun enough.
