My thoughts exactly. I thought he ran with the thing. At worst, he should've been down at the 2.

I think the NFL possession rules have become so convoluted over the years, common sense has become lost amid all of the psuedo-physics.

Did you ever really "work" here?

Another quickie rules question from the NFC game since I didn't see it earlier. On the Cardinals' first touchdown, Fitzgerald catches the ball, spins at the 2 or 3, bounces off an Eagles defender, then hits his own man and falls to the turf as he's stretching for the end zone. As he hit the ground, the ball popped out and the Eagles fell on it at the 1.
Now, it was clear he put the ball over the goal line so it was a TD. But if he hadn't would that have been a fumble? The ground caused it, but he wasn't down by contact from a defender. He was down by contact from his own man.

    Flacco: 1 for 7, 2 yards!

The only thing I can think of is that Harbaugh talked them into it and that they started the replay video too late -- didn't watch it from the pass, just watched Holmes go to the ground and lose the ball. How else can that be ruled an incomplete pass.

Is it me or does Nantz have a crush on Simms?

Didn't see the play, but sounds like that would have been ruled down after the defender hit him. It would be a continuation play; doesn't matter that he hit his own man immediately after that.

  9. Did Simms just say "Dick LeBleau"?

And now he just said "Having trouble spitting out my name"

    Yes, I have a 13-year old's sense of humor.

    Crap.
Bob Greise, Terry Bradshaw, Roger Staubach, Joe Montana, Bart Starr, Troy Aikmen all had amazing HOF and near HOF type players. (If by tools you meant surrounding talent and not ability)

Warner was a great comparison to McNabb today, one made the plays, one didn't, one looked like they wanted to earn the win and one looked like someone owed them the win.

Would have been a fumble if it was determined his teammate provided the impetus for him going down.

Also, Holmes play is an incompletion every day of the week.

Oh boy Roethlisberger getting looked at and Leftwich warming up.

I'm gonna bet Ben doesn't miss a snap.
