Drew Bledsoe signed a then-record $103M contract with the Patriots in March 2001.

Trent Green signed a $17M contract with the Rams in 1999.

It's not much more complicated than that.

So the Redskins say they're bringing back Haynesworth. Anyone still want to say Shanahan is a HOF coach and so smart and all that? The guy is nothing but a spiteful dickhead once again letting his ego get in the way of a good decision.

Some of us saw this in Mike Shanahan years ago. That he's getting exposed for it for others to see in D.C. is hilarious to everyone else except Redskins fans.

If I were a Redskins fan, I would think Albert Haynesworth has worn out his welcome and, ideally, Mike Shanahan would follow him out the door for good.

I always thought Shanahan was overrated, and a lot of fans started turning on him at the end of last year with the way he handled McNabb. I'd have fired him after last season. Of course, I wouldn't have hired him in the first place either.

His son Kyle is even worse.

He's not. But since contracts aren't guaranteed, you just release them and be done with it. Eliminate the drama. It seems like that's what good, successful NFL franchises do.

Wasn't saying otherwise. I was just backing up Piotr's point about Leaf.

There's trouble brewing for the NFL; a federal judge has ruled that the NFL acted in bad faith towards the TV contracts for '09 and '10 and has set a hearing for damages to the NFLPA.

That lockout "war chest " may not be there like the owners thought.

That is huge huge and tremendous news. The owners can no longer sit tight on their money while they wait for the players to cave. Especially the ones who have a shit ton of money to owe on stadiums. Maybe now the owners can start bargaining in good faith instead of trying to kill their players on AND off the field.

Trick shot video from a Washington State long snapper is spreading throughout the blogosphere.

Between this guy's, and the quarterback and kicker ones that are also floating around, I hope the NFL combine next year incorporates these stunts and then moves the combine head-to-head against NBA All-Star weekend. That would be fantastic programming.
