apparently not. And all fans care about is watching football, that is what I mean about taking the emotion out of it.

Players are not in camp because Gene Upshaw actually negotiated a great deal for them at last CBA.

You both get that the ball is in the players' court now, right? (Guess not).

OOP, is it a strike or a lockout?

Which side chose to shutdown the league?

Which side is holding it up now?

I am fully aware that this entire problem is the owners' fault. They have been kicking the players' asses in these things for so long, they just assumed that sooner or later they would get what they want. I have said so repeatedly.

But if you are really going to insist on oversimplifying things, it is on the players now.

Why are the players expected to agree to the owners offer? They agreed to a deal that the owners opted out of. To me it does not matter which court the ball is in, this was precipitated by the owners.

I'd like to make deals the way oop thinks they should be done. It would be much easier to throw something out there and try to get the other party to accept.

Millionaires vs. billionaires ... nothing to see here folks, keep moving ... unless you're a WWL-type on the verge of tears over the Hall of Fame game being axed.

In OOP's defense, he did point out that the "it's on the players now" viewpoint is oversimplifying things.

Which I already said as well. Please see doctorquant's post, also.

That said, you are still missing my point -- it really doesn't matter who gets what to anybody but the players or the owners. What matters is playing the games.

I never said the owners were right in all this. I said they did a good job of putting the pressure on the players and the truth is, there is a deal in place and it is up to the players if they want to come back at this point.

I have yet to hear anybody from the players' side say what specific problem they have with the deal on the table. I am wondering if there is one, other than just not liking the way the owners handled things yesterday.

NFL Network is reporting that under the new rookie structure, Cam Newton will make $22 million in his first four years and there will be a $14 million option for a fifth year.

Last year, Sam Bradford got $50 million guaranteed.
