The use of interceptions as a judgment of how good a corner is really cracks me up sometimes. Not that they're irrelevant in determining how good one is, but they do get overrated.

For instance, Redskins fans love them some D'Angelo Hall while they eviscerate Carlos Rogers. Just crushed him because he catches passes like Sonner catches vegetables. But while Rogers did a lot more to shut down top corners, Hall was the one who would gamble in the hopes of getting a pick and end up getting burned more often.

Turnovers can totally change a game fast, sure. But sometimes batting down some passes is underrated.

    Hey now!! :)

As a Skins fan, I'll take D Hall 100 times out of 100 over Rogers. D Hall has his faults, no question. But he's a game-changer. Rogers is not. Rogers might be a better "cover" corner, but his hands, as you pointed out oh so beautifully, are made of stone. Hall is a good enough cover guy, plus, he can catch the ball when it's thrown his way. And he can cause fumbles. He's a playmaker. Rogers is not.

Good additions there, though the Ravens are the only team on that list other than the Jets I could see getting involved.

Ryan, I do see your point. As a Redskins fan, you know all about disastrous free agent signings.

That said, the Steelers need to do something about that secondary. The perfect fit is out there, but there is no chance at all that they will even get in on the bidding.

Signing Cullen Jenkins would be a nice move for Washington, but the offense the Shanahans are putting together would struggle in the ACC. No quarterback, running back or receiver of note on that roster. Plus, the aforementioned shitty OL.

With what they have, they best thing for the secondary would be a more effective pass rush and blitz.

What do you mean no receiver of note? They have 13 of them! And that's only because Brandon Stokely realized that's an absurd number and decided to back off on his agreement made yesterday.

Yup. I'm hoping there's a run on offensive linemen today. There has to be. Not sure they have enough to practice. And I don't hate the receivers. At all. Or really the running backs either. Torain, in my opinion, is legit. Not a superstar, mind you. But pretty damn good. It's the line and QB situation that's scary. Good thing those positions aren't important!!

Edit: And Headbutt....people are overreacting to the number of WRs the Skins have. First, there's 90 spots to fill in camp. And second, there's basically six receivers who have a chance to make the team: Armstrong, Moss, Kelly, Gaffney, Stallworth and Hankerson. I'm guessing Kelly gets cut and they roll with 5. Pretty typical. The rest are late-round picks and other nubbers who don't have a prayer.

Wouldn't shock me if they did. The Eagles keep jacking the price up and the Cardinals are too stupid to tell them to buzz off.

I really don't think the pass rush was the problem last year, though they have been investing in the defensive line. Hood made some nice progress and anything they can get out of Aaron Smith would be a nice bonus.

At some point, you have to cover somebody.

Max Starks and Antwaan Randle El are released.
Not suprised really. Starks because of the salary cap and Randle El because they just don't need him.
Starks I think could hurt though.
