and they are still as ridiculous now as they were then

Your opinion, whereas I see that season just as disgraceful as it was then.

Back on Kolb, the Cardinals gave up way too much for a guy who has proven nothing. Maybe this would be a fair trade if the deal was DRC for Kolb and a second-round pick. I'd have opposed that, but I could at least understand it. But to be the ones giving the pick?

Exactly what was wrong with getting Kyle Orton?

right, always disgraceful when your team that has never done anything comes close to winning a superbowl. Hate that.

holy crap! texans sign jonathan joseph to five-year deal. does this mean the jets REALLY get nnamdi to pair with revis as super cb tandem? 49ers are said to be the only other contender. i repeat: HOLY CRAP!

Severely weakened its defense? They used the 5th pick on a CB. At worst it's a wash.

He doesn't fit their offense? Their offense last season was 3 incomplete passes and a punt.

Ask the Broncos. They got Orton and can't wait to get rid of him, and they don't even have a decent back-up option.

A little drastic no? Especially when your alternative is the Senators

NightHawk, you don't want Kyle Orton. He doesn't win. He couldn't lead ants to a picnic. I would rather take my chances on Kolb.

Man, I am going to hate watching the Jets. Already drives me nuts watching Revis play for them because the Steelers sat on their hands in the draft that year.

(Yeah, yeah....they got Timmons, who has helped them reach two Super Bowls since then and win one. He still ain't close to what Revis is as an impact player and he's hurt too much.)

Samari Rolle and Chris McAlister in Baltimore were damned good for several years.

There is a cap floor, right? And the Bengals were supposedly told this? How the hell do they let Joseph get away?

Nope. Hockey owns my heart. Always has, always will. The Cardinals get about a month in the spotlight, then always end up playing second fiddle to the Sens. I don't think I'm even going to give them that this year.

Not me. Orton had a much cheaper price tag and we wouldn't have had to give him a ridiculous contract extension. He would have been fine for a year or two and we could have grabbed our quarterback in the draft this year.

This team is going nowhere this season, so I fail to see why bringing in Kolb is a good idea. Now you've got a ton of money committed to an unproven player in a year where you had an excellent shot at landing the ability to draft Andrew Luck. Adding Kolb, even if he pans out, does not change that. The Cardinals are a long way from being a contender. When Fitzgerald leaves after this season (and he will, he's not sticking around after another 5-11 or worse campaign), they'll be even further away and in no position to pick their quarterback because they're tied to Kolb, for better or worse. Basically, it looks like they've badly damaged both their present and their future.

Maybe I'm wrong and Kolb becomes a star while Luck never becomes more than ordinary. Maybe they actually keep Fitzgerald. If so, I'll admit I was wrong. But if Kolb is what I think he is and Luck ends up a Seahawk or a 49er, I am going to be absolutely livid. At the moment, this trade looks devastating for the Cardinals, and my desire to watch the NFL this year, which wasn't that strong to begin with, has evaporated.
