Kolb, I feel, will be an unmitigated disaster in the desert.

I agree. I don't think any team had any interest in letting him even compete to start.

Kolb's playing in the worst division in the NFL; he'll do OK.

I disagree. I don't think there's a ton of pressure on him. They didn't give up nearly as much as everyone thought they would have to to get him and he walks into a place where he has one the NFL's best receivers, and he gets to play in favorable weather which won't hurt either.

That doesn't hurt either. None of the teams in that division are awful, but none are good either.

I think they totally overpaid for him.

But, hey, I've been wrong before and if I am this time I'll gladly fall on that sword.

On Kolb, I think this is just a classic case of word of mouth doing what actual performance could not. This guy, and I have been in a position to see what he has done, has not done nearly enough to be held in such high regard.

It's not much different than a team signing a rookie to a huge contract, but at least Kolb has SOME track record, including another team thinking enough of him to name him its starter.

I think it's realistic for him to be another Hasselbeck, where it takes him a couple years but he becomes a very good, if not great player...

Well, yeah, that was the ridiculousness of paying such huge salaries to first-round picks. NFL took steps to remedy that, too.

But the teams still have to spend the money somewhere. And overspending on QBs is the American way.

I'd rather they'd overspend on Cleo Lemon*. The Argos could use the money. :)

[size=7pt]* -- Started eight career NFL games to Kevin Kolb's seven.
