Won't argue that. Kreutz kind of reminded me of Jeff Van Note, especially as he got long in the tooth.

Kreutz was definitely past his prime, but the Bears are going to miss his leadership.

    Olin Kreutz: Badass.

Ya, he was past his prime, but a great personification of Midwest football for years.

    Not sure I agree.

IIRC, the year Patrick Willis was taken by the Niners, the Panthers were scheduled to pick after San Francisco. I think Marty and Co. were interested in Willis. Niners got him and Jets inquired about the Panthers' pick. Trigger is pulled on a deal. Revis goes to Broadway and the Panthers sit back and let Jon Beason fall into their hands.

Anyway ... pretty sure the Panthers would have snapped up Willis if the Niners hadn't done so.

So I should be cursing the 49ers. If the Panthers don't move down, the Steelers get Revis. :)

But they still got an elite player in Timmons. Resigning him will be damn near impossible.

Other than Asomugha, no one the Eagles signed is guaranteed much (if anything at all) beyond 2012. I think Babin's "$25 million" contract includes $6 million guaranteed.

They should keep Samuel. Their only real pressing need is at LB and there's not a LB in the league worth Samuel. There are S/DEs worth Samuel, but no one is going to trade Polamalu or someone for him, either.

Phi, you are correct. Babin has $6 million guaranteed, Young is a backup and DCR is on his rookie contract. This isn't the Redskins giving $10 million signing bonuses to Archuleta , Randle-El and Carter.

So far, we've seen half of an elite season from Timmons, who slowed down dramatically as last season went on. Another explosive guy who needs to show he can stay healthy enough to retain that explosiveness through an entire season.

    Great.

Now he can be added the Favre "Come out of retirement list."

I wonder if any team would take a chance on him at this point. Isn't T.O. still unsigned as well?
