You know who could use a proven WR? The Browns. ..... Seriously.

Thought I heard that on the NFLN at some point over the weekend. Maybe I heard wrong. Didn't seem like he dropped many balls last year, though.

The Redskins could use another proven WR, too. Other than Santana Moss, I mean.

Yes, Edwards dropped as many balls last season as he had DUIs.

no way. his first year of eligibilty includes five other no-brainers, moss will be a a lock. that's how awesome his talent AND production was. moss surely played to the beat of his own drum, but he was never a criminal after he entered the league. sure, some writers don't 'like' him or condoned his hot-and-cold attitude, but i know all these voters and there sure as heck won't be enough to pull off a successful revolt against his year 1 nomination.

You mean they're not as conspiratorial as their Cooperstown brethren?

Moss had a couple lost years in Oakland, but that makes his numbers look even more impressive. He could be a petulant, whiny douche, but relative to a lot of other NFL players, he was a saint. I don't think he'll be punished for his "misdeeds" once the five-year waiting period rolls around. Of course, I also think he'll be playing at some point during this season. Regardless, his HOF credentials are set.

That was going to be my question. Not saying Moss doesn't deserve to be in, but it's not like the dislike for him is unfounded. There aren't many players over the last 13 years who have dogged it as blatantly as Moss did many times.

Sometimes, things done on the field (or things not done) are treated more harshly than those off it. Not saying Moss is a bad guy. I don't think he is. But he quit on teams repeatedly and it wasn't just in Oakland.

He didn't run over a meter maid in Minnesota?

Moss will be in on the first ballot. As he should be.

I agree with the should be. Will be? I hope so, but I wouldn't be stunned if he or Owens had to wait a year.

I would argue that the NFL HOF committee is as petty as they get. Didn't Michael Irvin wait two years? That's pretty bad since Irvin was widely regarded as the second best receiver in the NFL for just about his entire career.

Maybe five years from now the median age of the NFL committee won't be 70 and people will be able to get over the fact that Moss was a dick to them when they covered him and rightly put him in on the first ballot.
