Um..... Moss was best in WVa., not exactly Fla. or Ca or Tx.

I wonder if California has ever had a player who was the player of the year in hoops and football. I think Eagles TE Cornelius Ingram was Florida player of the year in both sports, but I might be wrong.

I just wanted to quote myself to remind some people that he did not declare him the greatest ever.

But state titles as a soph, two seperate POY awards in basketball and a POY award in football, and I don't care which state he is from, is pretty damn impressive. Plus, he was not exactly going to attend Virginia State out of high school.

Oh, it's impressive. But no, you couldn't make a pretty good argument that Moss was the greatest high school athlete ever. Again, mainly because a million HS kids have won mulitple POY awards. National POY awards. In states that churn out much better athletes than West Virginia.

I'm still waiting to see a dominant football player who won POY basketball awards both as a junior and a senior.

That is what places Moss in this convo, and if he kept running track, chances are he is a three-time state champion in two events.

Carl Crawford, in addition to being a second-round pick of the Devil Rays, received scholarship offers to play point guard at UCLA and quarterback at Nebraska.

He's already been mentioned but here you go: http://www.dailypress.com/dp-top100-currysep24,0,2779736.story. He absolutely dwarfs Moss and in a state with more top flight competition. Named best player in the country in both sports. Moss is not in the conversation of best ever.

    Ronald Curry's another one.

All-American in basketball and football, McDonald's MVP, thought to be one of the greatest prep athletes in Virginia history.

Caught 193 passes in the NFL. Never anything more than a No. 3 receiver.

I'm late to the party, but has Ronald Curry been mentioned yet?
