Only a seventh-round pick after all that hoopla.

    Joe Mauer:

--Gatorade National Player of the Year in football and baseball
    --two-time all-state in basketball
    --state champion in football
    --football scholarship to Florida State
    --No. 1 pick of draft

    That beats Curry, even.

You only think that because Jay Cutler is not in the conversation. Unlike Randy Moss.

Yeah, I can't argue with that one... Donovan McNabb probably should be mentioned as well...

Aubrayo Franklin to the Saints. That could be huge:

$17 million guaranteed for Miller. Knew he was good, but not that good.

You know, maybe the owners are right, they absolutely, positively cannot help themselves and left to their own restrictions, they'd just spend themselves down the drain.

The NFL used to be the one and done league; with the new CBA in hand for the next 10 years what do they do? Go right into the James Dolan/Isiah Thomas playbook and start shelling out James Jones/Eddy Curry contracts, multiple year guaranteed contracts. Zach Miller is a quality TE who makes tough catches; but $17M??? Kameron Wimbeley $29M?

Players were definitely right, what better way to determine the state of economy than consumer spending; what's the spending like right now in the NFL? (NBAPA is surely taking note.)

More than a little surprised that y'all went this far without invoking the name of one Charlie Ward.

It's obvious to me that Seattle is thinking ahead a few years. You figure Rice and Miller are wasted in an offense with Tarvaris Jackson at quarterback. But with next year's rookie QB crop expected to be the best in years, I'm guessing the organization is trying to stockpile weapons for the arrival of an Andrew Luck or Matt Barkley.

On the other hand, the highly anticipated QB battle in D.C. is set now that Rex Grossman has signed a new deal. The nation can watch the drama unfold as he and John Beck compete to see who gets to throw passes to Jabar Gaffney and Leonard Hankerson. Riveting.

I think Seattle is tanking this season to get Luck or Barkley.

Grossman to Gaffney was once a deadly threat. Too bad that was in college. :D
