Can we talk ONLY about the Texans (and nicely, at that) for the next 30 minutes? My love and loyalty has no shame.

    Harbaugh likes Michigan men?

Boom - you are clearly not following the rules set forth.

Case in point. The Steelers were working to get under the cap. Late last night, they sign LaMarr Woodley to a six-year, $61.5 million deal that actually LOWERS his cap number for the 2011 season. They had used the franchise tag on him.

Good keep by the Steelers. Outside linebacker is such a key for the way they run that defense and the team is set with Harrison and Woodley for now and the team seems to really like Jason Worilds, who will probably be Harrison's replacement not too far down the line.

Didn't realize until just now that the Steelers voted as a team not to ratify the new CBA because it didn't address the issue of discipline by the league office to their satisfaction.

Speaking of the CBA, I got a laugh out of the NFL Network's coverage of the symbolic signing by Roger Goodell and DeMaurice Smith this morning.

Jason La Confora in particular played the league shill nicely, taking digs at every other major sport for its recent work stoppages while pointing out that the NFL hasn't lost any games since '87.

Well, it hasn't. NBA lost half a season, MLB quit on a season and the NHL disappeared for an entire year.

Oh, I know it. He was still being a shill, but he's absolutely right.

Right. I always laughed when they said, "Longest work stoppage in NFL history..." when no regular season games were lost.

Braylon got no guaranteed money. $1 million with incentives.

That's a bargain even if he sucks...

Plenty of people, including many on this site, wanted to use the lockout as an excuse to rip the NFL. The league certainly has its flaws, including a disgraceful history when it comes to player safety, pensions and issues with how Goodell deals with player discipline. That said, it is still by far the best-run of the major pro sports leagues and it isn't even close.
