Dan Marino was not a great quarterback. Don't tell me what to do!

No, Elway played in the modern passing era. That began in 1978 and 1979 when the five-yard chuck rule was placed in the rule book.

In the first half of his career, he did not throw a lot of touchdown passes.

But we all know I place a lot of weight on how you play in the playoffs and the Super Bowl, and in the first 10 years of his career, he sucked in the Super Bowl.

If Kelly wins three Super Bowls he is a God in the NFL.

He did not, and that is why he is placed where he is placed in the minds of fans. How you play in the Super Bowl does matter.

Amamzing how this started because I commented about how much the Denver fans loved Elway.

You mean Jim Kelly the Hall of Fame quarterback?

Ya, amazing how much fans support their team's QB, regardless of how many TDs he throws -- or assaults he's accused of.

You understand there are players who are held in a much higher standing than others even though they are in the HOF, right?

Babe Ruth and Tony Perez are both in the HOF. Are they similar players?

He played better than Roethlisberger in Super Bowl XL, though that isn't saying much.

You got one thing right. It is fair to compare quarterbacks in the '80s to the quarterbacks of today. The rules were basically the same. The game has continued to evolve, but it is not nearly as dramatic of a difference as before the major changes in 1978.

That said, Elway was a Hall of Famer before those two Super Bowl victories.

So you put no weight on the fact he got teams to the superbowl that had no business being there? It's a god damn team sport Devil, your logic is just so simplistic and embarrassingly elementary. Dilfer must be better than Marino then.

Also look at the stats of QB's in the 80's and 90's early 90's compared to today and tell me again how the passing game is similar.

You know, Devil, there were some pretty fair QBs who couldn't even turn their team into a winner. Like Peyton and Eli's daddy; he could QB a little bit.

Bills cut linebacker/defensive end Aaron Maybin, their first-round pick from 2009:

For the No. 11 overall pick to be cut after just two years has to make Maybin one of the biggest draft busts ever.

Elway played most of his career for a coach who did not emphasize the pass despite having one of the best quarterbacks of all-time.

When Elway finally got a coach who knew how to properly utilize his talent, he was past his prime, but still had a few great seasons left in him.

And Elway was a first-ballot Hall-of-Famer long before Shanahan took over as HC in Denver. He's the second best quarterback I've ever seen.
