Terrelle Pryor goes into Monday's supplemental draft ... but must sit out five games. No practice, even.

To which I say, WTF? Since when does the NFL uphold NCAA penalties?

The NFL just arbitrarily imposing punishments on players that go against precedent and written policy? UNPOSSIBLE!

Is it written policy that the NFL can't punish a player for something he did in college?

It is not in the policy that they can. Nor is there a precedent. But the league office has been very good about taking the power to do these things for itself.

The angst over the supplemental draft is just staggering to me. Aside from Bernie Kosar, Dave Brown, and Jeremy Jarmon, can anyone name someone who has gone into the draft?

I think Mike Golic is just upset over what happened at OSU, and wants to take it out on Prior's professional career.

The supplemental draft? Even baseball's Rule V draft is more interesting. Hell, your fantasy draft is usually more interesting.

In concept, I'd say you're right. The fact that Pryor is going to some team ups the ante this time.

Cris Carter, the Boz, Dave Brown, Rob Moore among those on the list.

Right. But if there's nothing that says they can't, they can. If it said they couldn't, they couldn't. I'm not saying I agree with the decision. I don't. But there's not policy (that I know of, at least) that prohibits the NFL from doing what it did.
