Yeah, I'm gonna be up at 2 a.m. to watch the replay of that first half on NFL Network.

They really made Vick look bad even with a banged-up secondary. Maybe some of the young guys are finally ready to be useful.

Not to say that the Chiefs have any locker-room issues ...

    http://nfl.si.com/2011/08/19/jonathan-baldwins-character-issues-return-in-reported-fight-with-thomas-jones/

... oh, wait. It IS to say that the Chiefs have locker-room issues.

Where's my main man Larry Johnson when ya need him? He might've been Baldwin's tag-team partner.

i didn't watch last night's game, so don't know what bradshaw/aikman had to say about this, but did y'all see michael vick be an idiot after his third INT by polamalu? vick pulled a joe namath and tried tackling troy on the return, putting his head down and leaping at troy's knees.

no harm, no foul, all the way around, but if i'm andy reid i'm going apespit on vick... wtf are you doing putting yourself at risk in a meaningless game? vick coulda be kneed in the helmet and been concussed for gawd knows how long or suffered even a worse injury.

it was discussed on 'first take' this morning, with that moron jemele hill applauding vick for displaying such leadership. michael smith rightly said vick was moronic. hill opined that if favre of brady or manning do the same thing they're hailed for it. i hate that racecard spit. vick is the face of the franchise, the mvp for this 'dream team,' and he needlessly, foolishly put it all at risk on a meaningless game.

for the kiddies around here, in 1971, namath threw himself at lions linebacker mike lucci on an INT return in the preseason, either dislocated his throwing shoulder or reinjured his knee (i forget which), and misssed most if not all of that season.

vick, like namath, was no doubt 'frustrated,' bu that's no excuse. aren't qbs suipposed to be smart? that's no time to prove your toughness and show you're a 'real' football player. all qb's worth a spit are acjnowledged by their teammates to already be the toughest sob's on the team.

this sort of mindless stupidity pisses me off. as if you couldn't tell.

Brady, Manning and Favre (at least a decade into his career as Vick is) wouldn't be dumb enough to attempt such a thing. Ya, Jemele, takes a lot of leadership to put your team's season at risk because you're pissed you just fucked up -- in a preseason game.

Lombardi once said that at the first practice of each season, he made his players run into a wall. The ones who stopped and walked around the wall he made quarterbacks. This anecdote seems relevant here.

I don't think they said much about it ...
At the time I was worried about Polamalu getting hurt, 'cause he went flying and I think he only half saw Vick coming at him while looking to lateral the ball.
Once I relaized it was Vick ... Wow... It was good hit, but yeah, lots of potential for injury ...

Of course to sort of support Hill's point last weekend, Hall of Famer-to-be Cam Newton threw a pretty good block on a reverse and the booth and desk guys loved it.. What heart ands guts!

big, big, BIG difference between throwing a block, which we see ALL the time by many qbs (usually half-hearted attempts), and trying to tackle on on-coming player with a head of steam. HUGE difference.

listen, i'm thrilled vick wasn't injured on the play. but if he had been, it would've been THE topic of the day on every espn or any other sports show for weeks to come. he made the tackle and it barely drew a line in the game stories. but an injury would've created a cause celebre and massive headlines.

the risk-reward was out of whack in favor of vick being reckless. instead, it's just something being discussed here and on some of espn's time-filling, talk-radio-styled shows.

he and iggles nation are very fortunate.

While we are discussing touted QBs, Gabbert has struggled mightily with his throwing accuracy tonight but Jax is within 4 of Atlanta on the Jags' home field.

EDIT:Luke McCown to Cincy product Binns for a TD and Jax has the lead with 6 mins to go.

What's nice, though. is some good, honest, non-politically correct commentary from the likes of Strahan and Daryl Johnston in the booth, with Siragusa on the sideline.
They are discussing the elevated prices and stadiums with 1,000 "EVent Staff" people who don't allow any of the brawls that used to break out in places like RFK, Philly and other venues.
They also are telling about how their particualr draft days went down and how they talked candidly with the coaches of the various teams that might select them.
Good stuff, but no, it doesn't count.

I liked the Sportscenter segment the other night with Gruden and Terrelle Pryor doing chalk talk. Pryor's not stupid. Gruden, though, was laying in the heavy needle.

"Those bubble screens ... you and Gabbert and Newton really took completions on those things, didn't you? You know what I do when I see bubble screens on film? Snorrrrrrrrre ..."

Pryor handled himself with pretty good humor and some good chalk work.

    Watching the Dolphins-Panthers replay.

Reggie Bush is still on a different speed level than most, with enough bulk to push the interior back on occasion. He could be ready to erupt.
