And the Colts go down again 27-24, on a Kris Brown 48-yard walk-off field goal.

You know your run defense is bad when Ron Dayne is putting up a buck-fifty on it.

There's 13 minutes left, the Saints lead 27-7 and just recovered a fumble.

I'd say there's about 10,000 people left at Giants Stadium, and most of those, shall we say, are in less than holiday cheer.

    They're chanting "Fire Coughlin."

    Charlie Weis, anyone?

You would think Coughlin deserves to be canned. But there's the line of thinking that the Giants won't want to fire him because he was Wellington Mara's last hire and the coach he specifically wanted. So it wouldn't shock me to see the Giants hold on to Coughlin or even extend him for a year, so he isn't a lame duck next season.

As for Charlie Weis, that would certainly create buzz. But his Notre Dame teams have yet to win a big game of any kind. It's not like he has a Jim Tressel-esque track record as a head coach.

Jax calls timeout with 2:07 left.

    Makes no sense.

    Let the clock run.

That's Aron Bailey, BYH. [/copyeditor] ... tough to forget an unusual spelling like that (sorta like Dwyane Wade).

And the Panthers won in spite of Chris Weinke instead of because of him. (Hi Sxy and Merry Christmas!)

Bob Whitfield OT Giants, just got called for his 2nd unneccesary roughness penalty this game. HE SUCKS SHIT and should be cut in the huddle.

Losses by the Giants and Falcons ensure that sixth seed in the NFC will finish no better than 8-8.
If San Francisco wins, there will be six 7-8 teams. All of them play on the road next week, so there is a possibility all could lose and finish 7-9.

We're at the office trying to determine this tiebreaker thing (thanks, Falcons!!) and it's just mind-numbing. We'll probably just have to wait until the 49ers result or for the NFL to send it.

Is Phil Rivers hitting a wall?

He played horribly last week against the Chiefs and he's off to a bad start (0 for his first 5) today against the Seahawks.

The Chargers have been the league's most consistent team all season. But if you throw a slumping Rivers on top of Marty Schottenheimer, the Bolts are very vulnerable in the playoffs, home field advantage or not.
