Surprise of all surprises. ... Filip Chytil was back with the Rangers this morning and practiced with the team in a non-red jersey. They shut him down several months ago after another concussion where had been out for months, then tried to come back, and wasn't quite right. They said he was done for the season when they shut him down. That is why they got Alex Wennberg. Molly Walker's story says, "The Czech center has been medically cleared, according to a source, but there is still no definitive timeline on his return to the Rangers lineup."

Did Chris Drury actually pull a LTIR maneuver by shutting him down, with the playoffs in mind? Chytil's regular season cap hit is $4.4, $4.5 million.

    Bettman must be inconsolable.

Correct, with their third to last being against a Toronto team that, though excellent, is basically locked into place. I'm not giving up on them quite yet. The loser point they managed to get when down 5-3 in the third in Pittsburgh last night was somewhat encouraging.

All things considered, I can think of worse places to go than Utah, unless maybe you're an alcoholic. If and when they return to the postseason, I do hope they return the Whiteout tradition to Winnipeg, though I suppose every night's gonna be a whiteout in Utah.

Oh, shit, I just realized the Coyotes called up Shane Doan's kid last week. He was, I think, the last original Winnipeg Jet, and now his kid might be the last Arizona Coyote.

How many arenas are there in the Phoenix area and NONE of them worked for the Coyotes?

Suitable for a pro hockey team? There's one -- the Glendale arena -- and the location pretty much doomed that from the start.

The whole thing sucks. I hate to see the team leave.

Having said that, I get it. The other owners have had enough and I don't blame them. The team's history here has been a comedy of errors, with a series of some of the worst owners in sports.

I absolutely believe an NHL team would be fine here with an arena in the right place. We may find out in a few years, but it sucks that it would be an expansion team.

Sure but the Golden Knights & Kraken have been born and made the playoffs since the last time the Coyotes made the playoffs in a full season.

Discounting 2019-20 is kind of an odd choice… but the record isn’t really the point. Yeah, the team has sucked. That’s not why it’s moving.

I apologize in advance for being "that guy", but SLC has a really vibrant craft beer thing going.
