Well, better than getting one before assuming office, which was accepting foreign influence.

The funny part is that Trump autographed that Elton John CD.

I ask this out of a sense of curiosity. The Mexicans, and many 19th century Americans including Lincoln and Grant, considered the Mexican War a land grab.

What do Canadians think about the War of 1812? The reason for the war taught in United States history is that the British were going on U.S. merchant ships and impressing sailors. But the New England states, which relied on their shipping fleets, refused to send troops to support the War. And Daniel Webster opposed the War as a land grab. So actually how big a problem was impressment or was it an excuse for an annexation?

What are Canadians taught about the War of 1812?

The US looks like a weakling and a sucker, negotiating with a state sponsor of terrorism and mass murder?

If you want to get country X to act a certain way, you have two choices:

    A. Invade them.
    B. Negotiate with them.

As a nation who has tried "A" numerous times and which basically created ISIS (what were you saying about state sponsor of terrorism and mass murder?), "B" can't be too much worse.

BTW, China talks with NK all the time. How come they don't seem all that worried about "looking like a weakling and a sucker"?

That's a huge part of America's problem. They don't just want to denuclearize NK; they MUST "look good" doing so, or the whole deal just ain't worth it.

    Sorry.

I thought I was making John Bolton's argument against negotiating with Iran.

Well, except for avoiding nuclear war and saving California.

Wait a second. Why again are we negotiating at all?

Hey, you nuke California (which would honestly take a few nukes to really eradicate the state) you take out the San Fernando Valley and we all know how much you appreciate its chief export ...

    Ah, that's Trump's play.

"Get rid of those 55 electoral votes. Spread them out around the rest of 'real' America'. Hmmmmm . . . . "

    Four-dimensional chess, I tell you.
