As Krugman continues to demonstrate that he's an excellent diagnostician of the warward ways of W, but gets in deep when getting involved with anything else.

Nails the diseases cold, but a frequent fumbler when left anywhere near the Solution Bins.

  2. Well, his chops as an economist are beyond dispute, ben.
And he's right about this. It has been permissable to say anything about the Clintons for far too long.
    Here's the ur-text.

Krugman's chops as an economist are beyond dispute... The man understands free trade and the economies of scale gained from it and how to (and not to) measure productivity gains better than anyone...

Although given how you pick and choose who is worthy of dispute on various threads, it's hysterical that you give him credence rather than dismissing him as an Enron flunky "wingnut" and shouting him down before even reading what he has to say.

  4. Because he gave up the 30K Enron consultancy when he became a NYT columnist, as per that institution's rules -- the same rules that were waivd so that Bloody Bill (Wrong!) Kristol could come aboard recently.
And I dismiss your wingut sources as such because they come from wingnut propaganda mills -- Regnery etc. -- and websites financed by people who ask for, and are delivered, precisely the opinions they pay for. Krugman could write anything and Random House would publish it. Nobody can write a progressive book for Regnery because that publishing house will not. That makes it a wingnut propaganda mill and its authors, wingnut hacks.
Critical reading and thinking is a very important skill.

  5. Is there anything more boring than a Fenian vs. Big Ragu economics verbal brawl?

  6. Cricket?
    I'll stop.
This Maggie Williams thing with the HRC campaign is more than a thimble full of fail. Williams, as HRC's WH chief-of-staff, got hauled in front of a number of the investigative panels of the phony Whitewater scandal. Even though the whole thing was a demonstrable fake, that can't be helpful going forward here.

Hmmm ... an interesting passage. One I heard almost verbatim on Bill Maher on Friday.

  8. The Big Ragu was on the Bill Maher show?

Seems like a move that is 1. desperate and 2. to bring in somebody to start the mudslinging.

    Point taken.

Has there ever been an edge-of-your-seat economics brawl waged by anyone other than me and Fenian?

I didn't see the show. And I'm not Bill Maher. I am cringing if he really had the same thought. I can't stand the guy. I don't find him funny at all. What exactly did he say?
