  1. If you can figure out the Texas system you're a better man than I. Who dealt this mess?
Anyway, here's some porn for you and zeke.

Really, I'm not. The HRC camp has been actively saying two things that just aren't true about caucuses, but the more pernicious one is this: They are actually arguing that the caucuses are unfair to her because her supporters don't feel comfortable standing up publicly and being counted. They claim that their female supporters, in particular, feel intimidated by Obama's supporters.

The other, of course, is that the caucuses disenfranchise wage-earning voters who often cannot get time off from work to caucus. This, of course, would actually be an argument if the Clinton campaign hadn't had its supporters SUE TO CLOSE CAUCUS SITES DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR WAGE-EARNING VOTERS. Or if caucuses like Maine's didn't allow absentee balloting.

The Clinton campaign didn't plan on this being a campaign after Super Tuesday, and spent its money keeping Mark Penn in pork rinds and liquid evil and silky coverings for cloven hooves instead of putting organizers in the post-Feb. 5th states. Oops.

I'll leave decoding the psuedo-feminist and racist implications of the first argument to you.

Oh, and the Texas system is a complete mindfuck. That favors Obama. He'll game it out.

But imagine the fun Molly Ivins would be having about now.

  3. Actually, there are reports of HRC caucusgoers being roughed up by McCain people at some of the sites.
Look, this is what happens with this stupid system. You complain about that which disadvantages you and praise that which does not.
The Clintons really are just run of the mill pols, zeke. More talented than most, and certainly more successful than most Democratic candidates of my lifetime. It really sounds a lot like the who-killed-Vince rhetoric.

You know, it occurs to me that a long time ago, the Clintons probably decided, "You know what, there are enough crazy 'Who-killed-Vince' folks out there that we can probably do just about anything we want, and, when anyone complains, we'll bring that up, and a lot of people will say, 'Hey, that really sounds like just more Who-killed-Vince bullshit.'"

And if you aren't offended by the argument that caucuses are inherently unfair to women, well, I don't know what to say.

On MSNBC this morning, the anchor suggested to an Obama adviser that he didn't do well in primaries and only did well in the caucus states, and she came back right away and reminded the anchor that Obama has won just as many primaries as Clinton has, so I'm not sure where anyone gets the idea that his people are complaining about the process.

The great state of Louisiana pops readily to mind.

Also, too good not to post:

While his candidate has lost five in a row and is down in the polls in the three that go tomorrow, what's HRC's $5 million witchdoctor doing tonight?

What is the timeline between Hillary's announcement that she's changing up her campaign staff and the news that Edwards met with her? And has he made any statement as to why he's meeting with both candidates?

He's not. The meeting with Obama was canceled. They're saying they will reschedule the meeting, but no word on when.

Thanks. I didn't see much mention of it.

Disagree. Having participated in one during the past week, I feel more involved with the process than I have at any other time in my life. It was good to see people from our community -- a co-worker and his family with their Hillary signs and stickers included -- participate like that. In a way, it meant more than simply voting in the booth, because like democracy, it's never about what just one person and his or her actions.

Bottom line, like Michigan and Florida not counting, these are the rules. If she can't find a way to connect to people in caucus states, then that's her problem.

Can we finally be rid of Sununu? Can we finally lose one more self-centered pig in the Kyl/Stevens mould? Please?
