Not an inspiring entourage for McCain. Behind him to the right is Senator John Warner, who is retiring. Behind his left shoulder is Rep. Tom Davis, who is also retiring this year. Next to Davis is his wife, who was a state senator in Virginia until she lost her bid for re-election back in November. I also see George "Macaca" Allen. That doesn't bode well!

Figured I better edit, to avoid opening that can of worms. Mistake on my part.

Still, there is an unmistakable energy and diversity to a packed arena of Obama supporters, while McCain's little "clap-clap-clap" rally just looks like a guy and a party holding onto a certain segment of the population. Older, and yes, mostly caucasian.

The Dems won't choke this time, as they did in 2004.

I am loving Obama's plans for higher education. Several private schools in Oklahoma City were doing similar things a few years ago. Do community service and your private education is free.

  4. Remember they've already had one run-in over that lobbyist bill.

Good speech by McCain. Subtle jabs at Obama.

Obama's was more of what we've heard before with some new stuff mixed in. He's like a rock star playing the old favorites and sprinkling in some new hits. The community service for students is a great idea.

Well, some weren't subtle. Some were. "I'm fired up and ready to go" was a pretty clever ending.

I liked Olberman's take on it. Does McCain really want to be known as being anti-hope?

Has Obama responded to McCain yet?
Have Hillary's people come out and said that she would have responded by now?

Obama went first tonight, followed by McCain.

I'm guessing I didn't have the TV on early enough to catch HRC or the Huckaboomer.

Part of that is the difference between the energy of a team in a pennant race vs. one that's 12 games ahead. How much of it? Can't say.
