Which raises the question, what if the DNC hasn't cleaned up its self-made mess by November?

Howard Dean needs to take control of this asap, look like a leader, and set up a do-over in both states, prefereably in different weeks after Pennsylvania.

That would be the best way to tear the party apart.

Dean doesn't have the power. He'd be like a lilliputian trying to referee a battle between giants.

Hillary only gained a little the other day.

But what if Edwards' 26 delegates are in play, and she makes a deal for them? Then she only has to convince, what, 30-40 SuperDelegates to change their minds? Even fewer if she wins Michigan and Florida again.

That obviously won't happen, but it's a hilarious scenario to think about. The Dems will win in November (of course, we thought that in 2004), no matter what. But all the different possibilities, plus the idea that she might have a slim lead if their primaries were winner-take-all . . . . this only gets better.

As the Chairman of the DNC, I think he has enough sway to where he can get it to where this gets resolved without courts being involved.

Only the Dems could conceive of a path to bumble an opportunity such as this one . . . looking to follow the Village Idiot, running against
the 2,000-Year-Old Man, and enduring this kind of infighting.

With as dirty as this primary is about to become a Dem lock in November is out the door. Especially if Clinton is the nominee.

It'll never get to the courts, with regards to an outside party (the legal system) producing a final resolution. It'll be resolved within the party, one way or another. But unless BO gets assassinated, not even a Pennsylvania rout (which she may get) is going to enable her to win this, neatly and cleanly.
And if she doesn't manage to win this neatly and cleanly, a significant portion of those new, energized Dem voters are going to be severely hacked off.

BO's maintenance of the majority of elected delegates -- and a nursing of a gross overall popular-vote advantage, makes it impossible for him to be denied without sustained cries of outrage -- especially since every trial poll run between BO/HRC and JM shows BO running more strongly. Until a day comes in which HRC can show parity in that picture, she's pissing up a rope.

As has been mentioned here, and other places as well, it's close to impossible for Clinton to win neatly and cleanly given the way the delegates are apportioned because the party is too divided right now. She'll definitely be going to court over Florida and Michigan and that's what is going to doom the Dems.

A revote in Fla and Mich is cool, with delegates apportioned based on the results. One major disturbing development in that picture is the proposal currently being floated by some Michigan officials to do it quick, cheap and dirty (unlike Florida's preliminary plan). Have misgivings there, because
Michigan is Obama country, overall, and he deserves the same shot to strut best stuff that I expect HRC to receive in Florida.

If they do the do-over, it'll be in June after all the rest of the states are done.

But here's the irony: By being dead last, Florida and Michigan would carry much, MUCH more weight than they had originally by jumping the gun ahead of Super Tuesday.

Can't blame Obama for fighting it — he'd lose both states. He may not lose his pledged delegate lead, but Hillary could make it close enough that she can claim it's a virtual tie.

This could be an even bigger mess than Denver. And chips-and-dip will become an endangered species around these parts.
