You're obviously part of the vast right-wing conspiracy against her and Bill.

Obama should have just said "Considering Powers' research on genocidal maniacs, I think she is more than qualified to pass judgemant on who should be considered a monster" and left it at that. The Clinton camp would have gone ballistic.

What a load of shit. Last thing you want to do is let her establish tempo.

Quick journalistic aside here: Was the original remark leading to Power's resignation off the record?

"We f***** up in Ohio," she admitted. "In Ohio, they are obsessed and Hillary is going to town on it, because she knows Ohio's the only place they can win.
...She is a monster, too -- that is off the record -- she is stooping to anything," Ms Power said, hastily trying to withdraw her remark.

Nope, not off the record. She said it and then tried to take it off. Doesn't work that way.

  6. Technically, it's not OTR because she took it OTR after saying it. (That's the rule as I was taught it, anyway.)
Still, Ben's got something of the right of this. You DON'T let the other side dictate your actions, and you don't appear to have let them done it, either. The headline is now, at worst, "Obama Caves," or, at best, "Obama Camp In Disarray." You gain nothing.

Interestingly, Craig Pyes says she's off the record.

I agree that you can't make OTR retroactive mid-sentence. But I thought his point of view was interesting.

  10. Interesting.
    But incorrect.
I think he's reacting more to the shitstorm than to the ethics involved in the original interview. Many tempests, many teapots.

So I guess the only question to be asked now is whether or not Hillary will keep Obama's balls in the same jar on her nightstand that she keeps Bill's in, or will she buy a new jar?

What a gutless fucking move by Obama.
