I really thought that placing cameras on officers' uniforms would make a difference, but I'm not sure it has.

My thanks to your father for his service and for raising a child who clearly can think for himself.

    Bullshit.

Allowing them to turn them on and off at will is/was, well, suboptimal.

More important has been citizens recording their own traffic stops via cell phone/dash cam.

I've never had a negative police experience in my life.

I remember one calling my apartment and asking if I could come pick up my drunken then-girlfriend on the side of the road. He was letting her off the hook.

Of course I am lily-white and I have tended to present harmless.

    So here's the thing:
    Our police are on steroids.

I ain't judging it, but I have stood next to these dudes many times and they're built like pass rushers. Not the cops of my boyhood.

And I think I understand pretty well what a roided-up male looks like.

I agree with the vast majority of what you’ve said.
I just told my son that I’ve never started a day where someone might shoot me or required me to respond to such a threat. I respect the job.

My suggestion is that we citizens take back control of the police. Let’s remember WE PAY THEM; we tell them what we need. They serve us. This starts with citizens being placed in meaningful oversight roles each and every day.

If they don’t like it, tough luck we’ll hire someone else.

This also means we need more volunteers to fill those oversight roles.

I’m not a big cop guy aaaaaand...not seeing a real big issue with that 90 seconds there. A little over the top? Maybe. But what’s so offensive about those 90 seconds. Having emotions?
